Peter Goulby

We regret to inform you that Peter Goulby passed away on the 18th May 2019 aged 73. He is survived by his wife, Tip, Daughter Sarah, and Stepson Peng. The funeral was at Klai Kangwon Temple on Thursday 23rd May at 3pm.

Before Peter arrived in Hua Hin in 1997, he was in charge of a trawler company in Lowestoft. When he arrived here, he joined the Golf Society, and after 12 months he was a member of the committee, then Vice Chairman, and then Chairman. During his tenure on the committee, he initiated away trips, first to Royal Ratchaburi, Sawang, Dragon Hills, etc., then the Gentlemen’s trips to Pattaya and Lovers trip to Kanchanaburi. Peter also initiated the Golf Society Charity events at the Dusit, which at the time was very popular.

As the Chairman, Peter had a very strong personality, he brought in the Congu handicapping system, and started bi-weekly competitions, as well as different formats. During his tenure as Chairman, our membership rose to over 320 golfers.

Those who knew Peter will remember a ‘down to earth’ and sociable person, who would help others quietly. We will miss you, and always remember you, Peter.
